An era full of riddles?

In the last issue of a famous American business magazine is a very interesting question of the hoarding of the arable farmland of the five continents on the part of investors and global corporations.
The forecast for what it concerns the future needs of agriculture is a big demand in the coming years in view also of the world's population. In 1960, it was available for each inhabitant of the planet, 1.1 acres of productive agricultural farmland. Acres in 2000 had fallen to 0.6 per capita.
Whereas it is expected that the world population over the next 40 years will rise from the current 6 billion to 9 billion can guess the size of the problem.
Joachin von Braun International Food Policy Research Institute adds: "The agricultural land is scarce and will become even more scarce because the world needs to produce twice as much food by 2050. With farmland and water available to very limited value agricultural land will be a significant increase. This will go hand in hand with the value of which may increase more than that of agricultural land. "

Whereas before yesterday the alarm on the FAO to the starving population of the world (more than one billion people) come to my mind a few considerations:

- Perhaps should be rethinking the development patterns that have characterized the past century, especially for what concerns the large consumption of agricultural land for housing and infrastructure construction and deforestation;

- Globalization has brought development to certain areas even at the cost of enormous sacrifices, but in addition to the positive aspects caused huge imbalances for both developing countries and for the competitive aspects of the businesses of developed countries and for workers employed in them .
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Given only these two aspects and leaving out many others, would immediately think of a serious consideration and joking:

that is a serious question: are we really sure that a "global to global" for the development of the world is the right one and would not be more appropriate to a "local to local" for the harmonious development and spread more and regionally?

and then the last thing: at last the great manager with "bonus" to 9 digits, the ones who invented the toxic securities, perhaps all will be replaced by our local farmers who will have a mega walnut desk next to the stable of cows that produce the true gold of the future. It will also have large safes will be kept where many bushels of wheat, soybeans, oats and, "dulcis in fundo", numbered bottles of olive oil. And some donkeys from the lawn, producer of refined milk will bray happy in reason that world will apreciate them a bit more.
