The magnificent desolation.....but many years later

There was still the Cold War, which felt even in Italy with the opposition between the West and the Iron Curtain. There was also to challenge the universe .... the Russians seemed to continue but then that day in July of 1969 three Americans arrived in the moon. Even in small countries there was spasmodic and I remember in front of a small television in white in black with my uncle Francis, who was the owner, to live in direct the adventure even then seemed impossible. From time to time I went out of my house and onto the landing of the stairs to see visually where the men were coming, it seemed impossible to me but then the facts led to an adventure who even now seems unreal.

In those moments it seemed to me that there was a feeling among the Moon, our Montagnola and hopes for the future that you saw in the distance.

The strength of will, the acceptance of risk to win the challenge, brought to a success the man forty years ago. And to think that the processor of the computer from which I am writing is 20 times more powerful than processsor of the lunar module.

And the magnificent desolation of which Buzz Aldrin spoke and which he repeated in a great interview today on NatGeo made us dream and we said a push to give us all to be done because we thought: who knows where we come in two thousand that seemed very far away.

But then we realized that maybe Buzz spoke of the magnificent desolation of the 2000s.
